Enlarged oil glands, loss of elasticity, thinning of the epidermal and dermal layers, can all contribute to the texture of the skin surface appearing rough, sallow, and uneven.
Microneedling, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and lasers are therapies that can be combined to resurface skin texture. In general, a series of treatments is needed for best results.
Enlarged pores can be exacerbated by chronic clogging with keratin debris and oil that cause the pores to become permanently dilated. A loss of collagen around pores due to ageing can weaken tissue structure, allowing pores to enlarge. Narrow band Intense pulsed light (IPL) and Ultherapy Prime® ® can stimulate collagen production around the pores. This tightens skin and helps minimize pore appearance.
Oil glands can be diminished with narrowband intense pulsed light and light electrodessication. A topical skin regimen to reduce the tendency for oil glands to become overactive is advised to maintain correction.
