CoolSculpting® + Z-Wave®
There are 2 main areas of fat accumulation in the body: subcutaneous and visceral fat tissue. Subcutaneous fat is located under the skin and can be destroyed by freezing it using a patented device called CoolSculpting®. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin, fat can be frozen without damaging the skin surface. Fat that is deposited around the abdomen and flanks (love handles) has different tissue receptors than fat located in other body areas.
Adipose tissue present in the above areas have predominantly Beta-adrenergic receptors which makes this fat more resistant to weight loss and exercise. Cryolipolysis is very effective for treating this kind of fat. Dr. Wong performs Z-Wave® immediately after CoolSculpting® to smooth and tighten the treated areas.
Visceral fat is fat that is packed around your internal organs (liver, heart, intestines, etc.) This fat cannot be treated by CoolSculpting® or liposuction. Weight loss and exercise are the best approaches. Prescription medications can be useful. In extreme cases, surgery may be indicated, such as a gastric bypass.
Z wave® + Ultherapy® for Cellulite Reduction
Cellulite is thought to be a degenerative phenomenon of connective tissue in the deep dermis and subcutaneous fat layer. Genetic predisposition, hormones, diet, sedentary lifestyle, microcirculatory changes, inflammation, architectural differences related to sex (more common in females vs. males) contribute to cellulite formation. Visually it shows as skin dimpling and bumpiness that occurs mainly in women in the pelvic region, thighs, and abdomen; although any body area containing subcutaneous fat may be affected. Prolonged sitting or standing can impede circulation and play a role in microinflammation developing in adipose tissue.
Z-Wave® uses radial pulse energy to increase blood circulation and improve lymphatic circulation. The rhythmic stretching and compressing of connective tissue in the fat is thought to improve fibrous tissue support for fat globules. Sagging and increased laxity of the epidermis can aggravate the appearance of cellulite. Ultherapy helps by tightening the deeper dermal layers of the skin.
