A surgical blade specifically designed for dermaplaning is used to carefully scrape away dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz), leaving the skin smoother. This is similar to shaving but the use of a special surgical blade allows deeper exfoliation. It is done prior to a microdermabrasion or a hydrafacial treatment. It reduces the appearance of pores, improves texture, and brightens skin tone. Patients notice that make-up goes on more smoothly and evenly after dermaplaning. There is no discomfort or downtime. While one treatment is beneficial, a dermaplaning session is recommended once a month for maintenance.
